A couple months back, host Johnnie Regalado spoke with Canadian poet Tim Lilburn about his new book Assiniboia for National Poetry Month. We re-aired the interview for your listening pleasure!

Tim Lilburn is an acclaimed Canadian poet and essayist as well as a Professor in the Creative Writing department at the University of Victoria. He won the Governor General’s award in 2003, however, since his first published work in 1986, he has had quite a successful career. His new book of poetry, Assiniboia, was released in March and imagines Western Canada the way it could have been. This is not the first time nature has played a role in Lilburn’s writing, and this particular work breaks new ground in Canadian poetry.
